#4 of 7 - The Secrets of Nutrition & Flexibility

As a yoga teacher, I’m always telling students to go slowly, breath deeply, and take it easy; but there’s always one person who doesn’t hear a word I’m saying… the guy who grits his teeth, grunts, moans, and sprays sweat across the room every time there’s a posture change.

Why do people do this? Well, that guy used to be me, so let me explain.

ENTHUSIASTIC NEW STUDENTS
A new student will often walk in the door expecting to snooze through class, but ninety minutes, 35 postures, and 3 OMs later, that same person walks away a weak, wobbly mess.

A guide to aging? Not really, because it is going to happen anyway. A few signs of aging do present themselves. We notice a few more wrinkles compared to the photo from last year, and maybe even the year before. But what else do you notice? A number of us notice the ears are seemingly bigger. Yikes! Those darned ear hairs are growing like rope. Is this normal? Nose hairs are now more unruly than ever and certain parts of the body are prone to sagging.

The good news is that these external changes are normal and fortunately none mean that we are unhealthy. All are part of the process of living longer.

If you’ve never tried Pilates, you’re in for a surprise. Just watch a few Pilates exercises and you think, ‘That’s easy! I can’t see it doing me any good.’ Think again.

Pilates exercises are one of the best exercises to stay fit and trim. Pilates are low impact, very powerful movements that can show results in a short time frame. Free pilates exercises don’t require any expensive gym membership, or expensive equipment to implement. Many of the exercises don’t require any equipment at all. You can do them right at home.

In the year September the 4th 2006 an ultimate powerlifter called Mike “Mule” Miller squatted a huge amount of 1200 pounds (That is 545.45Kg) in 1RM! That is an incredible attempt and could only be achieved using one of the most popular strengthening exercises the Squat.

There are numerous amounts of physical fitness exercises that you can do to improve your fitness level. Depending on what you want to accomplish, they can range from doing simple exercises that you may already be doing and require no special equipment to joining a fitness center and using more specialized equipment.

After you have taken the time to determine your health and fitness goals, the easiest way to decide which physical fitness exercises you would like to do is to follow the 5 components of fitness (cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition).
