Want to lose a little weight? Even better, would you like to keep that weight off? Weight loss can be easier than you think.

Try eating several small meals a day. This does not mean eating several small meals of high calorie food. It also does not mean you need to give up all the foods you love. Eat half of what you think you want and you will be surprised at the difference this can make in the area of weight loss. When you eat five or six small meals a day you are not as likely to overeat because you will not be as hungry. People make a big mistake when they try to lose weight by eating only once a day.

Post-workout nutrition has been an extremely well researched topic in the fitness industry.  The studies have shown that ingesting simple carbohydrates with whey protein (in the form of a shake) assist in muscle building, recovery and in body transformation in general.  Let’s take a second to evaluate if these shakes are effective for everyone to use.

Nitrates and nitrites are preservatives that are added to certain meats to affect a desirable color and prevent the growth of poisons and bacteria. When nitrates and nitrites are exposed to heat and other conditions during the curing process, they are sometimes transformed into nitrosamines, which have been linked to cancer in a number of studies.

In addition to this, nitrates and nitrites have been linked to stalling–or unexpected stops in weight loss–even when consumers are on low carb diets, such as Atkins, that specifically prescribe the consumption of meat that could potentially contain nitrates and nitrites.

Did I mention protein powders make me sick? Well, not literally of course. At least I’ve been fortunate enough to avoid any spoiled or contaminated protein products. What I mean is that I’ve gotten really bored with drinking the same protein shakes every day.

What do I mean when I say that protein powders make me sick? Well I don’t mean it literally of course. I just mean that it’s gotten really boring because I have to drink the same shakes every day. So do you really have to drink these products if you want to gain muscle?
